Adding to my album collection

It's been a lot of years since I bought albums. My collection consists mainly of Prog rock CDs of the more mainstream variety (Camel, Rush, King Crimson and such) and other random mostly rock music. I had to sell around 2/3rds of my collection in I think 2007 for a meager sum of money to get by. Although I don't really miss the albums I sold since they were pitiful buys in the first place.

I'm not really a collector type; I'm fine with just listening to music digitally. But, I had money to spare, and I just felt like buying some music that reflects my tastes. If I buy another big batch I might do another post about it. I'm mainly aiming to add to my LP collection, since It's pretty small. My CD collection is way bigger. Hopefully one day my LP collection will catch up. Space is not yet an issue.

So, here's what I bought:

The Magnetic Fields - The Wayward Bus / Distant Plastic Trees
This has been my favorite album for over a decade, and I finally own it!

Comus - First Utterance
One of the masterpieces of classic psych folk from the early 70s. With songs like Drip Drip and The Prisoner, how can you go wrong? I feel nostalgia for this record due to playing it quite frequently during the summer of 2008 when I was, for a brief period, a little happy.

Tim Buckley - Starsailor
Classic avant-rock with that strangely wholesome cover art was a must to add into my collection. I remember the first time I listened to this... Not only was the opening track love on first listen but it sounded nothing like I expected. It has my favorite version of Song to the Siren.

Brötzmann et al - Elements
Explosive jazz line-up. You just gotta love these guys. No special attachment, but I want some Brötzmann in my collection.

Nihilist - Carnal Leftovers
Top tier Death Metal from the late 80s. I don't have any special attachment to it, but it's top tier and I don't have much Death Metal in my collection.

Legionnaire - Dawn of Genesis
Recent retro Tradmetal release with wonderful songwriting and spirit. If the singer was better, these guys would be near the cream of the crop for the genre. Nonetheless, I look forward to more music from them since they've only just started. Probably my sloppiest purchase here because the singing is  mediocre, but I really do like the album a lot.

The Residents - Meet the Residents
The Residents - The Third Reich 'N' Roll
I love this band that defies all expectations. All of their 70s output is worthwhile but Duck Stab has to take the cake. Sinister Exaggerator...
Nonetheless, I also bought Meet the Residents and Third Reich; both very fun records.

The Residents - Duck Stab / Buster & Glen (Bottom)
My favorite Residents album.

Hawkwind - Space Ritual (Left)
One of my favorite live rock albums. It's a cosmic journey to be revisited again and again.

Disco Inferno - The 5 EPs (Right)
I've always loved the 5 EPs but it still managed to age like a fine wine. I'm glad I finally own this because at this point the music holds personal meaning. I got pretty obsessed with Love Stepping Out in 2008 and I still am, but over time I also got obsessed with Second Language. What these guys did is mindboggling.

Swans - White Light from the Mouth of Infinity + Love of Life +  3rd Bonus Disc
This version of White Light has the song Blind on it, so I had to buy it (+ the cover art is compelling). With Blind included, easily their best album and one of the best of all time.  I don't think I've ever heard Love of Life and the 3rd Disc is a mystery!

Blogpost on Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler might be coming by the end of the year or so?

I'll probably buy some more albums soon as well.
